Holley - Jack Wannenwetsch, age 90, passed away February 15, 2022. He was born August 30, 1931 in San Antonio, TX to the late Harold and Mildred Wannenwetsch.

Jack served his country in the U.S. Airforce from 1950-1954. Jack was best known as "Pop pop", and an extremely proud one! He was an avid HAM Radio operator, enjoyed fishing and photography as well. Jack was considered a "Jack" of all trades and was always willing to get his hands dirty to get the job done.

He was employed by Spectrum (formerly Time Warner Cable) from 1984-2018, retiring as a Sr. Digital Electronics Headend Technician. He was very passionate about his work and a mentor to many of his co-workers. An avid amateur radio operator (WZ2MM), Mike was an active member of the Orleans County Amateur Radio Club. He was a tenacious, talented and accomplished home renovator. Mike enjoyed music and performed as a singer during the late 1960s through the 1980s and thoroughly enjoyed singing the music of crooners such as Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennett. He was a hard-working individual with an amazing work ethic. Michael was a reliable, loving and caring son, brother, husband, father and friend with a wonderful, happy and fun-loving spirit.

Richard(Dick) L Toussaint, 79, KA2BCF,

Dick was a machinist by trade and worked for E&M Enterprises in Middleport, Niagara Cutter in N. Tonawanda for many years and finally for Jasco Tools in Rochester, retiring in 2002. He was a 4-H leader for many years of the Fruit Avenue Bombers 4-H club. He was a parishioner of Holy Trinity Catholic Parish, St. Mary’s Church in Medina. Dick was also a member of the Orleans County Amateur Radio Club and the National Wild Turkey Federation and was an avid hunter. Dick will be lovingly remembered for always offering his assistance to anyone in need.

Stephen(Steve) W Maier, Jr, KZ2R, May 2016

Active in the community, Mr. Maier was a member of the Sacred Heart Club and a Past President of Medina Area Jaycees. He enjoyed the outdoors and was a hunter, fisherman, camper and golfer. He enjoyed poker and participated in poker tournaments and, participated in pool, bowling, and softball leagues. HAM Radio was his passion. He was a life member of the American Radio Relay League, a member and Past President of the Orleans County Amateur Radio Club, and participated in many HAM Radio contests worldwide.

Mr. Maier was employed by Eastman Kodak Company for 36 years in multiple roles including software engineering, retiring in 2004.

Rocky March 30, 1922-March 13,2008

Floyd D. Rocky Harris, KA2ZPQ, of Medina, passed away on Thursday evening, March 13, 2008 at the Medina Memorial Hospital. Mr. Harris was born in Idaho, March 30, 1922, a son of the late Frank and Minnie (Agee) Harris. He served in the US Navy during World War II and on November 4, 1944, he married Gloria D. Lindberg in Chicago. The couple moved to the Medina area in 1952 where he was employed by Rowley Coal, Grinnell-Feller, R.N. Parsons, and White Brothers Rose Corporation. He was a Ham Radio operator, known as KA2ZPQ and was active in the Orleans County Ham Radio Club. He was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, the Ridgeway Volunteer Fire Company, a callman with Medina Fire Dept., a member of the Orleans County and Medina Auxillary Police and a life member of the NRA. He collected stamps and coins; enjoyed playing cards and solving jigsaw puzzles. Survivors include three daughters, Gail (Lynn) Canham of Medina, Carol Marshall of Fitchburg, MA and Kim (John) Myers of Medina; 8 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 3 brothers, Frank, Arnold and Gene Harris; a sister, Leola Goodwin of Salmon, ID; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife on Dec. 20, 2000. Friends may call on Monday (2-4, 6-8) at Cooper Funeral Home, 215 W. Center St., Medina, where his service will be held at 8PM following visitation. The Reverend Emily J. Frank will officiate. Military honors will be accorded at the funeral home by members of Lincoln Post #1483 Veterans of Foreign Wars and Butts-Clark Post #204, American Legion. Dick Cherry N2ZNV, 1933-2008

Dick will be missed by all. He was a good person and good friend. A CW operator that will be greatly missed by all. Very much so by the 7:00 PM CW net on 21.125.00. Always was uplifting and in good spirits. Our prayers go out for Joanne and his very close long time friends.

Harry H. Incho N2CWG,

(Medina, NY) - Harry H. Incho, a research entomologist and a Ham radio operator, died peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, May 10, 2008. He was born on May 23, 1918, in San Diego, CA, the son of the late Jack C. and Hazel -Woodring) Incho. Harry graduated from the University of California at Berkley in 1941 with a Bachelor's Degree in Zoology. In 1941 he was drafted into the Army, communications division, which reinforced an earlier and lifelong interest in Morse code. Harry was an avid Ham and had earned two National County Hunter's Certificates for using Morse code to contact Ham's in all the counties of the United States. Harry was assigned to the Department of Agriculture Research Laboratory in Orlando, FL in 1942. Here, he worked the duration of WWII and met his future wife, Eileen Justice. They tested DDT, DDT Analogs and other candidate insecticides against many insects (primarily mosquitoes). These insecticides aided our war efforts by relieving our troops of these insect pests. Harry was honorably discharged as a Sergeant in the Army Air Force. Harry married Eileen, February 15, 1946, and they both went to work for US Industrial Chemicals in Baltimore, MD. In 1958 Harry transferred to the FMC Company Research Labs in Middleport, NY, where he worked as the head of the Household Insecticide Research Laboratory. He left FMC after 30 years, but continued his research work with Fairfield American until his retirement in 1983. Harry was also active for many years in A.F.S. and the Orleans County Amateur Radio Club. He was an avid cook, always experimenting with new recipes. He and Eileen enjoyed traveling the country to visit friends and family, made several international trips and participated in ballroom dancing. Harry is survived by his loving son, Jonathan (Cynthia) Incho of Medina and their son, his only grandchild, Andrew, of whom he was very proud. Also his beloved sister, Jackie Lea Glenn of Eureka, CA; his brother-in-law, Norman (Marian) Justice of Covington, TX; sister-in-law, Louise (late Philip) Justice of Cedar Rapids, IA and many faithful nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Eileen, 12 years ago. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Medina for almost 40 years and had served as an elder. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held in the fellowship hall of the First Presbyterian Church on Saturday, May 17, 2008 at 3:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society or the Medina Journal Register Camp Fund.


John Paul Maha,

BATAVIA, John Paul Maha, 80, of Batavia died Monday (April 22, 2013) at the Batavia VA Medical Center after a long battle with cancer.

John was born Sept. 14, 1932, in Warsaw.

A U.S. Army veteran, he specialized in communications and was a ham operator for over 30 years. Mr. Maha was a hard worker for many years for Demerly Communications, which later became Tatarka Technologies in Batavia.

John is predeceased by his parents, John J. and Mary (Goodenow) Maha, formerly of Corfu; a brother, Dennis Frank Maha, formerly of Dansville; and a sister, Lorraine A. Cleere, formerly of Seneca Falls.

Survivors include a brother, Gary T. (Susan) Maha of Batavia; three sisters, Mary Joan (Mark) Vaughn of Medina, Diane (Bill) Shamp of Oakfield and Susan (Frank) Fuchs of Florida; a brother-in-law, Thomas Cleere of Seneca Falls and several nieces and nephews.
